Fans underwhelmed by Joey Feek tribute at ACM Awards
The ACM Awards on Sunday night would have incomplete without a tribute to Joey Feek, who died in March after a long battle with cervical cancer.
While Eric Church gave a moving tribute to Bowie and others who passed last year, the former member of country duo Joey + Rory was later given a standalone standing ovation. Some fans were quick to praise the touching moment, but others took to Twitter to slam the quick memorial.
Read the mixed opinions:
Joey + Rory was nominated for Vocal Duo of the Year, but lost to Florida Georgia Line.
Ahead of the awards show, Rory Feek, who opted to stay home with his daughter instead of attending the festivities, shared a mournful photo of his wife's grave with a beam of sunlight shining over it. Watch the video above to learn more.
