Cops: United Airlines pilot arrested for running a 'prostitution enterprise'

A United Airlines pilot was arrested for running a "massive" prostitution ring in Houston, Texas, authorities say.

Bruce Wayne Wallis, 51, was "managing, supervising, and controlling the facilities of the women," the prosecutor said at his arraignment on Thursday.

The pilot allegedly ran the string of brothels under the guise of a massage parlor. Wallis was in charge of more than six brothels and each housed eight to ten women, the prosecutor said. Wallis charged each woman $400 a week to work in his operation, and in exchange, he provided online advertisement for them, the prosecutor said.

According to KHOU, one of the facilities they used as a brothel included the Chateaux Dijon apartments, where George and Laura Bush lived in the 70s.

After an eight-month investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the human trafficking branch of the Houston Police Department, Wallis was charged with engaging in organized criminal activity and aggravated promotion of prostitution. He was released on a $15,000 bond for the two charges.

The district attorney said it was the largest operation that he has ever worked on.

Following Wallis' arrest, United Airlines said in a statement: "We hold our employees to the highest standards and are assisting the authorities in this matter. We have removed the employee from his flying duties."

Nineteen women were also arrested in connection with the brothels, but no "johns" were charged.

Tracie Tanner, 37, was also arrested. KHOU reported that Tanner was likely helping Wallis manage the business. According to her Facebook page, she studied and worked at the Avalon School of Massage.

Tanner was released on a $5,000 bond.
