The first things to purge during spring cleaning
Time to shake the dust off and start spring cleaning your wardrobe, the pantry and more. After a long winter, everything needs an overhaul.
Check the expiration dates on your makeup, lotions and sunscreens. If there's no date printed on the container but you know it's over three months old, say goodbye and look forward to a fresh spring face.
Seeing a full closet may be satisfying, but it doesn't make sense if you don't wear half the clothing in there. Do a personal fashion show in the mirror, and if an item doesn't fit or project the image you want, donate it to a local charity and leave space for pieces you love.
When was the last time you watched a VHS tape? Have your home movies transferred to digital form. It saves space and is a better way to preserve your memories. Updated technology often means new power chords, so make sure your space isn't cluttered with chargers for cellphones and tablets you no longer use.
4. Items missing their twins
Socks that have no mate seem to congregate in the bottom of drawers, taking up precious space. If the sock with the pink polka dots has been lonely for a while, it's time to get rid of it!
Spring cleaning doesn't just mean organizing -- its time to purge.
