This funeral home's unique approach is eye-catching to say the least
The Marin Funeral Home in San Juan, Puerto Rico does things a little differently—if requested.
Their unique approach includes an option for embalming the dead in a manner that makes them look like they're still alive.
Termed "extreme embalming," the process of placing dead loved ones in novel positions is said to require a different mixture of embalming fluid and quite a bit more work than the standard coffin-ready look.
Some of the "non-traditional" funerals have included: placing a man on his motorcycle, setting another in a boxing ring, sitting a man upright on a prized-family chair, and simply placing a man against a wall because his last wish was "to remain standing."
Considered "rare" and on the "fringes" of the funeral industry according to an industry blogger, extreme embalming isn't strictly a Puerto Rican phenomenon, however, its finding at least some traction in Louisiana as well.
