Applegate Farms issued a recall for about 9,000 packages of its popular 8 oz. packages of Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets with the "Best Before" date of September 27, 2016.

There are concerns that small plastic pieces may be inside the packages that could cause harm, according to the company.

Applegate suggests if you happen to have one of the affected packages that you return it to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number "P-2617" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

According to the company's website, Applegate is investigating the situation and isolated the incident to the final stages of mixing and producing the product.

There was a similar recall in 2014 concerning plastic found in its chicken nuggets, but that is not the case this time.

If you have any further questions, you can visit the Applegate website or call 866-587-5858.
