'SNL: Watch 'Racists for Trump' ad — 'SNL's' big reversal on Donald Trump

The "Saturday Night Live" commercial parody "Racists for Trump" starts innocently enough — with sweeping aerial shots of the heartland, and a friendly voice saying the media's been saying some pretty awful things about Trump.

Then we meet some real Americans, played by Vanessa Bayer, Kyle Mooney, and Bobby Moynihan. A woman ironing, a man gathering logs, a painter. They say they have lots of reasons for supporting Trump, but really they just have one:

They're "Racists for Trump."

It's the main moment on "SNL" this week that people will be talking about. The mock-campaign ad makes "Saturday Night Live" only the latest comic entity to lump Trump in with Hitler and the Ku Klux Klan, and marks a pretty big reversal.

Just this fall, "Saturday Night Live" let Trump host an episode — and what a so-so episode it was — despite protests from some people of color that NBC was giving a platform to a racist. The show went on, uneventfully.

"SNL" joins Bill Maher and Louis CK in comparing Trump to Adolph Hitler this weekend. (The "Racists for Trump" ad makes the comparison when a friendly seeming man played by Taran Killam raising his arm to reveal a swastika band.)

Saturday's "SNL" also featured veteran Darrell Hammond dusting off his trusty Trump impersonation for a skit that also made fun of Trump sidekick and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (Bobby Moynihan).

In the cold open, Hammond's Trump congratulated himself on what a great campaign he's been running:

"The media's saying they haven't seen anything like this, not since Germany in the 1930s. I mean everyone loves me: racists, ugly racists, people who didn't even know they were racist," he said.
