Gladys Knight just got out of a speeding ticket like you only wish you could
The next time you're about to (unsuccessfully) cry your way out of a speeding ticket, save yourself the embarrassment and try singing your way out instead!
Only if you've got pipes like Gladys Knight, though.
While on her way to a choir performance for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the soul-singer's car got pulled over by a police officer in Pleasant Grove, Utah.
The Associated Press reports that Officer Paul Rogerson was in the process of checking the driver's license when the woman claimed that Gladys Knight was in the back of the car, and they were on the way to a choir performance.
Then, much to every skeptic's surprise, Ms. Knight actually got out of the car.
Not wanting to pass up on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity the universe simply dropped in his lap, Officer Rogerson asked if she would sing to him -- luckily for him, it just so happened to be his birthday.
Of course, the gracious Gladys serenaded the officer to the tune of "Happy Birthday," and even posed for photos with the beaming Rogerson and his ride-along.
Dare we say, it must be the best thing that's ever happened to him?
Oh, and for the record, the whole incident went off the record -- considering the circumstances, no tickets were given.
And THAT is how it's done. 👏 👏 👏
