Be it the Oscars, the Globes, the BAFTAs, or the SAGs, you won't ever find Cate Blanchett pitching a pre-event hissy fit.

"She has such a good attitude about it. It's kind of amazing. It's like when people say about celebrities, 'They're so normal.' How do you stay normal in that world? I'd be the biggest monster probably. She takes it all with a grain of salt," says her longtime (and very, very nice) makeup artist Jeanine Lobell.

The two have been working together for years and have an easy, affectionate relationship. Blanchett trusts Lobell, who says the Oscar winner has a breezy attitude towards the red carpet -- even cutting her hair right before the Oscars.

"She's so brave," says Lobell.

This time, Blanchett wore a floral Armani Prive gown. Her makeup was modern and sexy.

"It always comes from the dress. It's a balancing act. If you have a hard dress, you don't do a hard makeup. My job is to balance what's happening and make it better," she says. "She's so high fashion. That dress was so insane on her. It was beautiful."

Getting Blanchett ready is as fun as you would imagine. "She's not trying to control everything. She's comfortable. There's no surprises. It could be a premiere. It could be someone else's premiere. She's not controlling. We talk about it and go for it. We have our relationship," says Lobell.

First, Lobell prepped Blanchett's face with her go-to products: SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, followed by R.N.A. Power Essence and R.N.A. Power Cream. Blanchett is the face of the brand, but swears by it in real life. Having seen her up close, we can attest: it works.

For her glam, Lobell stuck with Armani. Her key products: Giorgio Armani Cheek Fabric blush in #506, Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Solo eyeshadow in #5 and #15, and Giorgio Armani Rouge d'Armani in #103.

The end result: "Modern, sexy and romantic," says Lobell.
