Disney is getting its head in the game... again.

Disney Channel officially announced Tuesday (March 1) that High School Musical 4 is officially a go and a nationwide casting search begins now.

A press release shares that Disney Channel original movie HSM4 "will continue the story of the global sensation High School Musical -- and introduce new East High Wildcats and their cross-town school rivals, the West High Knights." A West Side Story-esque East vs. West rivalry was originally touted after High School Musical 3 premiered, but the project stalled. Now, it seems, fans will finally get a fourth installment of the popular franchise, although Zac Efron and Co. are not currently slated to appear.

Jeffrey Hornaday (Disney Channel's Teen Beach Movie, Teen Beach 2) is attached to direct and choreograph the movie. Dan Berendsen (Disney's Hannah Montana: The Movie) and Peter Barsocchini, who wrote all three High School Musical movies, are the screenwriters.

"High School Musical is part of Disney Channel's DNA," Gary Marsh, President and Chief Creative Officer of Disney Channels Worldwide, said in a release. "It embodies all that we stand for. As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we're excited to announce 'the start of something new' -- as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the High School Musical franchise."

Let's all cross our fingers we get something as joyful this time around:
