Funeral held for rookie police officer killed on her first day of work

Updated

Mourners attended the funeral for Prince William County Police Officer Ashley Guindon on Tuesday amidst a sea of blue at the Hylton Memorial Chapel in Woodbrige, Va.

Guindon was shot and killed on her first day of work when she responded to a domestic dispute in Woodbridge on Feb. 27. Two of Guindon's colleagues were also shot during the altercation and remain hospitalized.

Off-duty U.S. Army sergeant Ronald Hamilton has been charged with fatally shooting Guindon at his home outside Washington. The Prince William County prosecutor has said that he will likely push for the death penalty against Hamilton in the case.
