Andrew Wiggins Uses Kobe Bryant's Own Move Against Him, Kobe Approves

By JOHN DORN

Unlike his former teammate Shaquille O'Neal's well-known 1990s side gig, Kobe Bryant's run as a musician has fallen through the cracks of history.

We know what you're thinking. Kobe was a rapper? What? When?! We're here to help explain!

Kobe had plans to release a debut album, titled Visions, in the spring of 2000. A single was put out during the lead-up to the release, titled "K.O.B.E," which featured supermodel Tyra Banks singing the hook -- which went like this:

K-O-B-E, I L-O-V-E you

And I think you are very fine

If you give me one chance I promise to love you

And be with you forever more.

The song was even performed by the Lakers star during All-Star Weekend that year, but was widely regarded as a failure. After the poor reception, Sony decided to pull out of their deal with Bryant, leaving his album unreleased.

Kobe did get the chance to hop on a record with Brian McKnight, to deliver a verse on "Hold Me," two years prior to Bryant's attempted album release. The "Hold Me," video, uploaded to YouTube in 2009, has amassed nearly 900,000 views and 3,000 likes.

Though his own rap career was a failure, it did provide one key win for Kobe.

While working on his album in 1999, he was in the same building that video was being shot for The Eastsidaz single, "G'd Up." It was there that he met 17-year-old background dancer Vanessa Laine -- or as she's known now, Vanessa Bryant.

The two married in 2001 and have two daughter, Gianna and Natalia.

And just because his NBA career is dwindling down, don't think there's a chance that he'll reprise his role as K.O.B.E.
