Bizarre futuristic hair trend is sweeping the Internet

If futuristic, ring-shaped hairstyles have always been your thing, then it looks like the latest viral 'trend' is right up your ally. A video recently uploaded by the Facebook page 'Barbershapp' shows a woman getting a bizarre haircut and it's taking taking over the Internet.

Uploaded with the accompanying caption, "Is this a new trend in the making?" the video has racked over six million views in a mere 40 hours since being uploaded.

The dramatic look comes complete with zig-zags, asymmetrical lines, and also features mismatched chunks in the front and the back. A distant cousin of the mullet, the out-there beauty trend has commenters up in arms, and it appears as though not everyone is a fan.

On Barbershapp's website, they describe their app as a way to allow theirs users to 'search for barbershops near you, check wait-times and book your place in line from the palm of your hand.' While the hair trend could 100% be an avant-garde statement, it's also highly likely that the minute-long clip was concocted in an effort to make their brand a household name.
