During her visit to the University of Pennsylvania Wednesday, Caitlyn Jenner did a Q & A session with the audience, in which one person asked why she didn't join a more liberal party, reported local blog, Billy Penn.

"I have gotten more flack for being a Republican than I have for being trans," Jenner replied.

The panel's moderator, Vanity Fair's Buzz Bissinger, added, "Just because you change gender doesn't mean you change your core beliefs." There's a gem of a thought to add to the dialogue.

Ellen DeGeneres challenged Jenner about her conservative views this past fall and asked why she seemed a little iffy on the whole gay marriage issue.

"I don't want to stand in front of anybody's happiness. That's not my job. If that word marriage is really, really that important to you, I can go with it," Jenner told DeGeneres then.

It's not hard to figure why Jenner gets the criticism she does, but Bissinger might have just won this whole exchange: Transitioning genders does not require one to transition political parties. Over and done.
