Mystery surrounds severed feet that have washed up on Northwest beaches
On February 7, beachgoers in Vancouver Island, Canada made a grisly discovery that adds to a nearly decade-long phenomenon.
Another shoe has been found with a dismembered human foot inside, confirms the British Columbia Coroners Service.
The office has said the investigation is focusing on someone who likely disappeared between March 2013 and December 2015, based on the relatively recent model of the sneaker.
More than a dozen of these disarticulated feet in footwear have washed up in the Pacific Northwest area since 2007.
Despite intense public speculation, authorities have determined that most of these victims likely died from suicide, not foul play.
As in the most recent case, it is believed that the foot naturally separates from the body due to an extended time in water.
