Woman in hospice gets birthday wish -- and casino winnings
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (KETV) -- The team at Hospice with Heart made sure one of its residents celebrated what could be her last birthday in fine fashion Saturday.
Melva Sellers turned 87. Celebrating her birthday with her daughters at the Horseshoe Casino has become a tradition.

"We'd go gamble a little bit and then we would go back to the room and play cards," Lou Anne Hastings said.
When the hospice team found out, they wanted to keep the tradition alive.
"It exemplifies what hospice is all about," team director Lisa Bagby said. "Helping people live their final days to the best they can."
It's the first time Sellers left the hospice facility in Glenwood, Iowa, since she got there in October.
Saturday, she received VIP treatment.
Casino staff sang happy birthday to Sellers as she entered the casino. Then it was on to the buffet for lunch with her family. Wait staff brought Sellers her favorite bread pudding.
"This has been nice. I'm really surprised," Sellers said. "I like coming to the casino. Sometimes I win and sometimes I don't."
"It's been a wonderful birthday," she said.
The HCI Foundation's Quality of Life program made Sellers' birthday surprise possible.
