Day Care Director Caught On Camera Beating Child

CLERMONT, Fla. (PIX11) — A day care director in Florida was arrested after police say she was caught on video hitting a toddler and slamming him to the ground during nap time.

According to WESH, video footage shows Kimberly Reid, director of the Children's Palace Day Care Center, striking the 4-year-old child multiple times with what appears to be stuffed animals and her hands.

The video then shows Reid picking up the child and slamming him face-down onto a mat, police said.

The video was recorded by a co-worker who told police she was uncomfortable with the way Reid was handling the toddler.

Police contacted the boy's father who said he never gave Reid permission to strike the child.

The 41-year-old woman's nap-time abuse had been going on for at least three weeks, a Child Protective Services investigator told Clermont Police, according to an incident report.

According to Reid's arrest affidavit, the woman told police she was just playing rough with the child.

Reid was arrested Jan. 29 and charged with child abuse.
