So You Think You Can Dance is coming back to Fox, but not like ever before. The new season, titled So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation, will only audition dancers age 8-13 for the chance to win the title of America's Favorite Dancer.
The Next Generation will team its top tween talent with So You Think You Can Dance "All-Stars" to help them through the competition's final stages. Auditions begin this month, after which selected contestants will gain admission into "The Academy" and compete for the coveted top 10 spots.
"The series has captivated its loyal fan base for over a decade, inspiring young dancers across the country and transforming the face of dance in every medium -– and we're so excited to feature a young and talented new group of performers on the series," said Fox Entertainment President David Madden in a press release.
Producer Nigel Lythgoe added that it would be a "privilege" to work with the youth "who will eventually shape the future of dance in this country."
SYTYCD: The Next Generation premieres on Monday, May 30, with returning host Cat Deeley and judges Nigel Lythgoe, Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo.
