MSNBC to host Democratic debate on Thursday

MSNBC will be hosting another Democratic debate with the leading candidates on Thursday, Feb. 4, in New Hampshire ahead of the first-in-the-nation primary, the network announced on Sunday.

Chuck Todd and Rachel Maddow will host the debate, with Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Martin O'Malley expected to attended. The event will take place at the University of New Hampshire in Durham at 9 p.m. EST.

The Democratic National Committee is sanctioning the debate amid pressure from voters and candidates. The committee is apparently in the process of putting more debates in the lineup with the agreement of the candidates.

Both Sanders and O'Malley have slammed the DNC for the lack of debates, especially when compared to the number of GOP debates scheduled, and for holding the debates on weekends, when fewer viewers are likely to be in front of a television.

"I think it's out of a false sense that they have to circle the wagons around the inevitable front-runner," Sanders told the New York Times in December.

Earlier this week, the campaigns of Clinton and Sanders agreed to four more debates.

NBC News hosted the most recent Democratic debate, which was held on Jan. 17. The GOP held a debate this past Thursday.
