Concept Jet Whittles New York To London Flight Down To 11 Minutes

New York to London is a popular but long flight route. Imagine if it were possible to make the trans-Atlantic trek in just 11 minutes.

If designer and engineer Charles Bombardier's latest concept plane ever makes it to the runways, the incredibly brief flight duration could become a reality.

Called the Antipode, the jet is propelled by rockets, allowing it to zip through the skies at about 12 times the speed of the Concorde.

The launch of the craft involves a specially designed railing and the assistance of a magnetic field.

Once airborne, the plane would travel at a pace 10 times faster than sound.

Other truly jaw-dropping flight estimates include a 24-minute jaunt from New York to Shanghai.

If you've got an extra 8 minutes, the jet can take you all the way to Sydney.

Capacity is limited to 10, and the cost of securing a seat, should the opportunity ever present, is anticipated to be astronomical.
