During Monday night's town hall event at Drake University in Iowa, presidential hopeful Senator Bernie Sanders was asked by host Chris Cuomo about his former athletic career.

"Your brother was on CNN today," Cuomo started. "He says that back in the day, you were a great athlete. Is that true? And if so, what was the sport?"

"You know families exaggerate a little bit," Sanders replied, before rattling off some impressive accolades from decades ago -- like his elementary school basketball team winning the borough championship.

"Hardly worth mentioning, but we did, yes," he went on. "And yes, I did take third place in the New York City indoor one-mile race.

"Good -- very good -- not great," the senator concluded.
