Cyndi Lauper is about to go country in a live performance

Updated

Cyndi Lauper is going country ... sort of!

The Grammy Award-winning singer is headed to Skyville Live in Nashville on Thursday for a live concert (which we're streaming on AOL.com and the go90 app!) with country newcomer Kelsea Ballerini and folk legend Ingrid Michaelson.

The performance, which has been dubbed, "Girls Just Wanna Have Friends" in honor of Lauper's hit single is the perfect segue for her since she has a country album set to release this year. The new album, titled "Detour," will likely be a detour from her typical rock-pop anthems and will feature collaborations with Willie Nelson.

The performance on Thursday is the perfect platform for Lauper to showcase her new vibe and is sure to wow. Powerhouse Ballerini, who has soared to the top of the charts with songs "Dibs" and "Love Me Like You Mean It," will perform her fan-favorites plus newer music like "XO."

Ingrid will also be on tap on Thursday night to perform with Cyndi and also do a couple of her big numbers like "Girls Chase Boys."

Lauper will perform her signature hits like "Time After Time" and "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" – but we have it on very good authority that she'll pay homage to country greats too with a couple of covers.

Tune into the entire show right here on AOL.com on Thursday at 8 p.m. EST and if you're on the go, you can watch the whole show right from your mobile device by downloading the go90 app here.
