Baby Delivered On Busy FDR Drive By NYPD

A traffic backup is rarely caused by good news, but this was the case for an added delay on FDR Drive in Manhattan on Tuesday morning.

The NYPD has revealed through tweets that the road was the unexpected site of a baby's entrance into the world.

One such post read, "There was a wonderful reason for this morning's FDR traffic! Say hi to Nicola Wong, safely delivered by NYPD cops."

Her mother reportedly went into labor at approximately 8am near 20th Street.

Authorities arrived soon thereafter and delivered the baby who weighed in at 7 pounds, 6 ounces.

The newborn and her mother were then taken to a local hospital and are reportedly doing well.
