While at Dior, creative director Raf Simons was a perennial editor and celebrity favorite. He dressed Jennifer Lawrence, one of the faces of the brand, plus plenty of others, including Daisy Ridley, Naomie Harris, and Lupita Nyong'o.

So we were eager to see what the brand would showcase in its first collection since his exit. To date, no replacement has been named.

And while the fashion didn't leave anyone breathless at the spring 2016 show, the beauty, courtesy of genius Peter Philips, Dior's creative and image director for makeup, was dazzling in its total simplicity.

He created two looks: one centered around a strong black eye, or a fierce scarlet lip.

"The upper eyelid was heightened by applying Diorshow Pro Liner Waterproof black eyeliner at the lash line - the horizontal line lengthens the eye. Next I emphasized the lashes to obtain a really thick, heavy lash. First I coated them with Diorshow Maximiser 3D, then I applied multiple coats of black mascara, alternating between Diorshow, which creates density, and Diorshow Iconic Overcurl, which maintains good curl in the lashes. For the nude eye on the second look, I used the light, iridescent shade from the centre of the 5-Couleurs Palette in Escapade," said Philips in a statement.

As for the lips, Philips used one of two shades: Diorific Mat Lipstick #590 Troublante or Diorific Mat Lipstick #750 Fabuleuse.
