Mother fined $200 for eating a banana in traffic
Sitting in traffic works up an appetite ... but satisfying that hunger cost a British woman $200.
Some cops in England gave a single mother a summons for eating a banana. Elsa Harris's heinous crime was seen by a eagle-eyed police officer in the town of Christchurch. The cop wasn't offended by her choice of snack, but he says Elsa committed a crime when she took her hands off the steering wheel to peel the banana.
Not only was she fined, but she got penalty points on her license too. It's the same penalty she would have gotten if she had hit a pedestrian.
The cops tried to be cute about their decision ...posting on Facebook: "This update may apPEEL to our followers." They claimed the driver's actions were a risk to public safety and said she "slipped up" by fighting the charges instead of taking a driving safety course.
