Best and worst dressed at the 2016 Critics' Choice Awards
WORST: Models are supposed to be trendsetters, but Abbey Lee Kershaw completely missed the mark in a nude lattice work dress with bizarre fishnet cutouts on the legs. The high, tight ponytail left her looking a lot like a fembot. (Photo by Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage)

BEST: Forget Fargo, Kirsten Dunst just made a mad dash for the best-dressed category! Dunst looked spectacular in a 1920s' ruffled gown with beaded details and satin slippers. A sleek bob and dark lips completed her blast-from-the-past look.

Try out the tiered trend here.

WORST: Emerald city! 'Big Bang Theory" actress Mayim Bialik looked liked she could have joined "The Wizard of Oz" instead of attending an award show in the medieval-style gown with tons of pleating. We're not feeling the look ... at all.

WORST: "Transparent" star Judith Light is normally extremely chic, but her full-length skirt, black turtleneck and sharp navy blazer completely overpowered her petite figure. What do you think of the billowy look?

WORST: We're giving "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" star Rachel Bloom points for trying out a popular trend, but the one-shouldered black jumpsuit didn't do her any favors. The harsh lines seemed too wide on top and the pants too narrow on the bottom.

Yikes! Sharon Stone majorly disappointed us in what looked like a Pepto Bismal-colored dress. The actress and former model's dress did injustice to her natural beauty and killer body.

BEST: Wowza! "Jurassic Park" star Bryce Dallas Howard turned up the head in a body-hugging black Balmain dress with a plunging neckline. She doubled down on sexiness with a long diamond necklace and platform heels.

WORST: Poison ivy, is that you? We're always into boho-glam looks, but Melissa McCarthy's safari-inspired dress was too much. We will give her style points for how well her dress looks against her bright red locks.

BEST: White hot! Amy Schumer or Marilyn Monroe? The "Trainwreck" creator wowed in a modern, white halter dress reminiscent of the blonde bombshell's famous look and we're big fans. Schumer has been rocking classic looks all award season and the styles are definitely working for her.

BEST: Jennifer Aniston ditched her usual, form-fitting, black gowns for a more flowy gray number with a ruffled neckline and super-high front slit. Silver sandals and fresh highlights completed her summery look. The star's hubby Justin Theroux looked dapper on his part in a skinny black suit and skinnier black tie.

WORST: Matching your hair to your dress is really cool when you're a teenager, but Marti Noxon, 51, missed the mark with this prom-like look. The hot pink dress and tresses were an eyesore.

BEST: We love the hight contrast look Krysten Ritter brought to the table. The 34-year-old actress dazzled in an eye-catching brown gown with a pleated skirt and modern neckline. The "Jessica Jones" star completed her look with a sleek blowout and glam makeup.

WORST: Time to go see a tailor Chris Geere! The actor's pants were way too tight -- in the err, crotch -- and way too short in the ankles.   (Photo by Lester Cohen/Getty Images)

BEST: Jennifer Jason Leigh played it safe in this simple black and white number, but there's definitely not anything wrong with that. The classic number was a showstopper. (Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images)

WORST: We're pretty blue about this dress. Not only is velvet a really risky idea on a red carpet  -- any by risky we mean it is a poor decision -- but sheer cutots with a landing strip across your breasts is just a no-go. Kate Gorney this is a fashion fail.

BEST: Dressing a baby bump is no easy feat, but Liv Tyler did it perfectly in a classic black, satin gown with a blouson top and form-fitting skirt with a sexy slit. Her red lips and sideswept locks took the look from pretty to insanely gorgeous.

Check out this affordable sleek black maternity dress.

BEST: "Nashville" star Hayden Panettiere made her award season return -- after becoming a mom -- and her look was absolutely on-point. The stunning star all smiles in a gorgeous, blush, Grecian gown with a super revealing, cleavage-baring bodice. The look was fresh and sweet all at once.

Try out the Grecian look with this blush gown.

WORST: "Wolf Hall" actor Damian Lewis switched it up in a mid-calf-length suit jacket. On the one hand it's totally different than anything we've seen in awhile. On the other -- what the heck is he wearing?

BEST: She's a ray of sunshine! Kathryn Hahn brought some much-needed color to the blue carpet in a bright yellow dress. The hint of cleavage with a fishtail train was the perfect mix of sexy and sweet. She added even more depth to the look with bright red lips. (Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images)

WORST: Sure, this is a more causal red carpet but that doesn't mean to just stick on an oversized T-shirt and a pair of jeans and call it a day. Here's looking at you, Diane Warren. (Photo by Steve Granitz/WireImage)

WORST: We want to love this look from Mary J. Blige, but there's just something that feels off. She looks stunning, but the black, flowy dress doesn't show off her great physique and has one too many slits for our taste. (Photo by Jason Merritt/Getty Images)

BEST: "Fresh Off The Boat" actress Constance Wu rocked a plunging blue chiffon mermaid-style gown with a one-shouldered cape detail. A braided crown and pastel clutch completed her easy, breezy look.

The Critics' Choice Awards is the second big night of awards season -- and the fashion is totally different and typically more casual than the more glamorous Golden Globe Awards last week.

But that doesn't mean the stars disappointed! Leading ladies like Rachel McAdams, Liv Tyler, Kirsten Dunst and newcomer Alicia Vikander came out swinging with stunning red carpet looks that brought out all the sparkle and razzle-dazzle we adore. Vikander's Mary Katrantzou beaded dress with intricate patterns and colors cemented her status on the best dressed list this year.

But, unfortunately, not every star nailed their red carpet ensemble. "Big Bang Theory" actress Mayim Bialik scooped up a win for supporting actress in a comedy series at the award show, but she also earned a spot on our worst-dressed list.

Check out the best and worst gallery above to see why each star earned their spot on the coveted fashion list.
