Thieves dress as Marvel antihero 'Deadpool' to rob ATM from store
Two would-be thieves were dressed as the Marvel antihero Deadpool as they broke into a store and stole an ATM, surveillance footage shows.
The two men, who have not been caught, were wearing zipped-up sweatshirts displaying the character's costume when they smashed through a window at a Cocoa, Florida store last week.
Footage taken from inside shows the duo pulling out an ATM and taking off - but not before one reveals his face.
They didn't get very far: the ATM was later discovered in a stolen truck that was parked outside in the parking lot, according to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said the men had abandoned the truck and taken off in a Chevy Tahoe. A search is still underway for the Marvel-inspired thieves.
Sgt. Dave Jacobs of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office told INSIDE EDITION that there haven't yet been any leads but the investigation is still in its early stages.
"I've never seen anything like it before," he said.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to call CrimeLine on 1-800-423-8477.
Deadpool, a masked, disfigured and talkative antihero, was played by Ryan Reynolds in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He will reprise the role in the upcoming movie, Deadpool.
