British parliament to debate banning Donald Trump
The United Kingdom Parliament will debate whether to ban Donald Trump from the country later this month.
Members will consider whether or not to prohibit the GOP frontrunner from entering the U.K. on Jan. 18 after a petition calling for a ban gained more than half a million signatures, well above the 100,000 required for a measure to be considered for debate.

"The UK has banned entry to many individuals for hate speech," the petition reads. "If the United Kingdom is to continue applying the 'unacceptable behaviour' criteria to those who wish to enter its borders, it must be fairly applied to the rich as well as poor, and the weak as well as powerful."

Trump's presidential campaign has been mired with controversy since he launched his bid for the White House in June. His proposed ban on Muslims entering the U.S. has been met with harsh criticism from the U.K., including Prime Minister David Cameron, who called Trump's incendiary proposal "divisive, unhelpful and quite simply wrong."
In response to the petition, the British government said that it may prohibit a non-European person from the country if their presence is considered "non-conducive to the public good."
