U.S. Facebook Messenger users will soon be able to request an Uber car in a matter of seconds through the Messenger app.

This is ideal for when you're communicating with a group via the Facebook Messanger app, and someone gives you an address of where you're meeting.%shareLinks-quote="Whether you're meeting friends for lunch, on your way to a concert, or running late for work, Messenger and our partners can get you to your destination faster." type="quote" author="Seth Rosenberg, Product Manager" authordesc="Facebook Newsroom" isquoteoftheday="false"%Here's a "how-to," courtesy of the Facebook Newsroom:

  • To get started, download the latest version of Messenger. Then, from within a conversation, tap the more menu and choose Transportation.

  • You can also search directly for Uber – our first partner – and tap the car icon to request a ride. From there, you'll receive updates on your driver's status and notify your friends that you've called a ride.

  • With the ability to request, track and pay for a ride in Messenger, we're making transportation as simple as sending a message.

And the best part? Your first ride using Uber via Facebook Messenger is free (up to $20)!
