David's Bridal Applauded for Using Plus-Size Model in Its Ads

When you think of a bridal ad for wedding dresses, what do you typically picture the models looking like? More than likely you picture beautiful, classy and either a size 0 or size 2. The truth of the matter is that ultra-thin models are traditionally what we see featured on magazine covers, in look books and on the runway. But here's the thing -- they're not exactly reflective of your everyday woman.

It's commonly known that the average U.S. woman wears a size 14, and thanks to one bridal shop in particular -- the "average U.S. woman" is now being celebrated. Davids Bridal's new Spring 2016 campaign features size 14 model, Mercy Watson, reflecting the beauty of your average bride.

Marking the brands U.K. launch, Watson stunned in their new line of bridal gowns, paired with fabulous veils and an even more fabulous gent to match. Needless to say, the results of the shoot (pictured below) are absolutely jaw-dropping.

Trevor Lunn, Vice President of Davids Bridal, recently told Refinery29 that the company as a whole recognizes their customers are of all different sizes. He also added that they felt it was important to reflect the diversity going into the new ad-campaign.
