Newspaper Apologizes For Publishing Obituary Of Santa Claus

A newspaper in Norway has admitted it was wrong for releasing an erroneous story about Santa Claus.

On Thursday, the major national outlet Aftenposten posted a death announcement for Father Christmas on its website.

The obituary reported that he was born on December 12th, 1788 and lived until December 3rd when he died at the age of 227 in the most northerly part of the country.

While the piece did not mention a cause of death, it did announce that his funeral would take place at the North Pole Chapel on December 28th.

The newspaper has since apologized for the error, acknowledging that the ad violates their guidelines and it "should never have been published."

It has since been taken down from the site, and an internal review is underway to determine how it happened in the first place.
