Boston police on Friday detonated an unattended suitcase discovered near a U.S. Coast Guard facility, though a subsequent review determined it posed no threat, Police Commissioner William Evans told reporters.

Officials had seen a person drop the suitcase and walk away quickly, Evans noted, adding, "That's why we went to the extent that we did."
