Beauty products you need to throw out ASAP
Your makeup bag is a place that can easily get overloaded with products. And since the New Year is coming up, it's the perfect time to start cleaning it out. So take a look inside that bag, and start tossing the following products.
First of all, dirty brushes and sponges can really irritate your skin. So if the bristles in your brush start to fall out and if the brush or sponge is stained from your colored cosmetics, pitch them. It's not worth it. Along those same lines, don't save blotting papers -- those are for single use only. Facial wipes typically expire after 2 months.
For your actual makeup, if your foundation or concealer is turning colors, it's expired, which usually happens between 12 to 18 months. And if you're a fan of natural makeup products, those expire between 3 to 6 months. Here's a tip: because they're free of preservatives, if you store them in your fridge between uses they'll last longer.
For mascara, keeping your favorite too long worth it because you can contract major eye infections from old tubes. So replace your mascara every 3 months, and put those old ones in the trash.
Liquid liner expires every 6 months because it starts gathering bacteria over time. Pencils, however, can last for 2 years because you can constantly sharpen them. Just make sure to keep them covered between uses. And for lipstick, if you notice a change in color, texture or smell, let it go. They expire every 1 to 2 years.... and for lip gloss those are every 18 months.
Now that you have some extra space in your makeup bag, it's time to get shopping.
