Witherspoon and Bruna Papandrea founded Pacific Standard in 2012, a film production company with a strong emphasis on female protagonists.

The story of the Barbie doll's history comes from the 2010 book "Barbie and Ruth: The Story of the World's Most Famous Doll and the Woman Who Created Her," written by Robin Gerber.

Pacific Standard has been behind the box-office hits of "Wild," "Gone Girl," as "Hot Pursuit;" as well as several other exciting projects in the works, including the movie production of best-selling novel "Big Little Lies."

Looks like there's a lot to look forward in years to come with the ladies of Pacific Standard!
