Friday Night Footlights?

Coach, Mrs. Coach, Saracen, Riggins and the rest of the Friday Night Lights crew are going to sing for their scrimmage when a musical version of the former NBC series takes the stage in Los Angeles in 2016.

The Unauthorized Friday Night Lights Musical, from the people behind this year's Unauthorized O.C. Musical, will happen in California next year. The show tweeted the news Tuesday.

Even better for all you Jason Street fans out there: Scott Porter has accepted the role of Coach Eric Taylor in the musical — a gig he celebrated via this Dubsmash.

Per E! Online, the FNL songfest is produced by Jordan Ross and Lindsey Rosin, who were behind the unauthorized O.C. and Cruel Intentions musicals staged on the West Coast earlier this year. Ross, Rosin and Cruel Intentions movie writer/director Roger Kumble also have a Cruel sequel series in the works at NBC.
