"Saturday Night Live" is comedy institution that has churned out greats like Eddie Murphy, Bill Murray, Tina Fey, Kristin Wiig, and literally hundreds of others.

Many of us know some of the strange but amazing quirks of "SNL" like insane schedule, but we've found a few others you may not known about.

1.) Larry David once quit the show because his sketches weren't being used. He then returned the next morning as though nothing happened. This was also the inspiration for "The Revenge," an episode of "Seinfeld."

2.) Bill Murray got into a huge fight with Chevy Chase minutes before Chevy delivered his opening monologue after returning back to the show to host.

3.) George Carlin was the first host in SNL history.

4.) Will Ferrell beat out Steve Carell during cast member auditions.

5.) Matt LeBlanc is the only cast member of "Friends" to never host the show.


6.) The "applause" sign was deliberately not lit after Sinead O'Connor ripped up a picture of Pope John Paul II during at end of her musical performance.

7.) Adam Sandler and Chris Farley were both fired from the show.
