A double dose of new Real Housewives are coming to Bravo in 2016 -- and one we totally weren't expecting.
ET already confirmed The Real Housewives of Dallas was on its way -- and now, Bravo has officially announced it. It's set to premiere later next year.
Along with the RHOD announcement came the news that the network will also roll out The Real Housewives of Potomac in 2016! Yes, Potomac, as in Potomac, Maryland.
"The Real Housewives of Potomac is the show you never saw coming, and it's going to take everyone by surprise!," executive producer Andy Cohen said in a statement. "As for The Real Housewives of Dallas, it's a natural extension of the franchise with a Southern twist that 'ya'll' will enjoy."
The Potomac edition will premiere in January, and both the stars and Bravo are aware you might not have ever heard of the titular city before. FYI, it's just outside of Washington, D.C. (The Real Housewives of D.C., take two, anyone?) Most of the trailer is spent explaining why you should care about Potomac:
RHOP definitely looks dramatic -- come on, the trailer ends with a mother congratulating her daughter for learning the lesson "always be nice to enemies." Still, we're not completely sold.
Judging by The Washington Post's previous coverage, The Real Housewives of Potomac wasn't actually filmed as part of The Real Housewives franchise. The Post refers to the show as Potomac Ensemble, and says the series was originally meant to follow six affluent African American women with ties to Jack and Jill of America, a historic social club which provides cultural and education opportunities for African American children.
According to the paper, the club didn't want to be associated with the show -- in fear it would get the Real Housewives treatment. Welp.
From what ET has gathered, The Real Housewives of Dallas also wasn't originally planned as part of the franchise. Bravo previously announced a Ladies of London sister series called Ladies of Dallas, which ET confirmed to be in production earlier this year. It appears that show is now RHOD.
The Real Housewives of Potomac premieres January 17 at 9 p.m. ET. The Dallas edition does not have a premiere date yet.
