Surveillance video shows Texas biker shootout that killed nine in May

Watch New Surveillance Video of Bikers Shooting

A wild security video surfaced Thursday showing the chaos surrounding a deadly biker shootout at a Waco, Texas, bar in May.

Nine people were killed and more than 20 others were injured in the battle at the Twin Peaks restaurant on May 17. No charges have been brought, even though 177 people were arrested.

The 1 minute, 46-second video shows members of two biker gangs — identified by police at the time as the Bandidos and the Cossacks — milling around on the patio for about 15 seconds. They then scramble and can be seen running, firing guns and crawling under tables for safety.

The origin of the video — which The Associated Press reported that it received it as part of a cache of evidence in the case last month but chose not to publish — remains unclear. Waco police and the McLennan County district attorney's office said they didn't release the clip, adding that whoever made it public could be "subject to ethical and legal issues."

Many witnesses — including bikers involved in the brawl and Twin Peaks waitresses — told investigators that the shooting began after a Bandido hit a prospective member of the Cossacks with his motorcycle, according to thousands of pages of evidence made public last month.

More than 430 weapons were recovered from the crime scene, including 151 firearms, according to a police incident report. Police said in June that three officers fired 12 shots, but they haven't said whether the bullets hit anybody.

Sgt. Patrick Swanton, a Waco police spokesman, said Thursday that he couldn't comment further because the department is under a gag order.
