1 dead, 1 hurt in collapse at midtown building
MANHATTAN (WPIX) — Emergency crews are on the scene of a collapse in Manhattan Friday morning that killed one person and seriously hurt another, authorities said.
It began about 10:30 a.m. at 25 West 38th Street, according to EMS.
The collapse happened in the rear of the building, where construction work was underway, the EMS spokesperson said. What type of construction work the crews were doing was not immediately known.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another suffered serious injuries, EMS said.
Some 60 firefighters were called to the scene, officials said.
