Lonely Planet picks top must-see places for 2016
Lonely Planet has just released its list of top travel destinations for 2016 as part of its Best in Travel guide for next year.
Botswana has been chosen as the top country for tourists because of its beautiful natural scenery, domestic stability, and numerous travel conveniences.

Coming in as the runner-up is Japan with its mix of advanced cities and beautiful countryside; behind it is the U.S. which came in third due to the potential for road trips through gorgeous national parks.
Rounding out the top ten countries are Palau, Latvia, Australia, Poland, Uruguay, Greenland, and Fiji.
Meanwhile, the highest-ranked cities are Kotor (Montenegro), Quito (Ecuador), Dublin (Ireland), George Town (Malaysia), Rotterdam (the Netherlands), Mumbai (India), Fremantle (Australia), Manchester (UK), Nashville (USA), and Rome (Italy).
These lists were created based on submissions by Lonely Planet's authors, editors and online experts.
