Owl survives awful road trip stuck on the grill of a semi-truck
Owls are known for their swooping predatory action, but one critter recently swooped a bit out of its league and got itself caught on the grill of a semi-truck on Interstate 15.
The driver remembers striking the animal at some point, but wasn't aware that it was stuck until stopping to get breakfast the next morning. After getting out at a Flying J truck stop in Ogden, Utah, the driver noticed the great horned owl -- somehow still alive.
Employees with the state's Department of Natural Resources were able to safely remove the bird and end its inadvertent road trip.
The owl racked up one broken wing, but is expected to make a full recovery after undergoing rehabilitation.
