Katy Perry will spend her birthday with Hillary Clinton

Katy Perry turns 31 on Oct. 25, and unlike her last birthday bash -- the singer capped off a weeklong fete with a party for more than 70 pals in Marrakech, Morocco -- she plans to go low-key this year.

"I've always done big parties, and I always love a themed birthday," Perry tells THR, noting that in 2012 she went with a vampire- and witch-themed party at L.A.'s Magic Castle ("We took over the whole place -- it was amazing!"). "But I went so cray last year, it's time to tone it down and not make it so much about me."

In fact, she's making her birthday weekend about Hillary Clinton: Perry will appear at the Democratic Party's Jefferson-Jackson Dinner in Des Moines, Iowa, for the presidential candidate. She won't be the only notable name at the event. Clinton's husband, former President Bill Clinton, will also be in attendance.

Perry tweeted about the event on Oct. 19, posting that she's "proud to stand" with the presidential nominee.

On Thursday, in the midst of testifying at the Benghazi committee, Clinton was captured on camera greeting an unidentified man and asking, "Are you gonna come to my Katy Perry concert?" He replied, "I hope so," to which Clinton said, "I hope so, too."

The singer tweeted a support message for the Democratic hopeful late Thursday evening after the hearing had finished: "Glad the witch hunt is coming to an end and we can refocus on the future of [America]. I admire your unbreakable strength @HillaryClinton #youaboss."
