Couple Makes Incredibly Discovery During Home Renovation

OAK PARK, Ill. (WGN) -- After a year and half renovating the inside of her beautiful Oak Park home from 1871, this week Gayle Riedmann moved to the outside.

"We were tearing off the drywall and noticed that they had insulated it with old newspapers," he said. "One caught my eye. It had the Cubs on it so I tore it off real carefully and it happened to be when the Cubs won the pennant in the 30's."

But it was the Cubs win over the Pittsburgh Pirates that demanded front page attention.

It was all encapsulated and well preserved inside the walls of Gayle's porch.

The papers, Gayle says have been the most interesting of finds inside the home, which included some glass mason jars and nails from owners of old.
