5 ways you're ruining your shoes
There's nothing better than treating yourself to a new pair of amazing shoes. But what's not amazing is when you're afraid of ruining them. So, here's what not to do, so you don't have to worry.
1. Washing your sneakers
When it comes to sneakers, one of the biggest mistakes you can make is washing them in the washing machine. It might actually unglue the shoe from its base.
2. Suede in the rain
For those gorgeous suede shoes we know you just bought for fall, never ever wear them in the rain, or in muddy conditions. Suede shoes almost never go back to their original condition after being damaged with water.
3. Not protecting them
Before you wear ANY sort of shoe, remember to protect them! This will give your shoes a way longer lifespan and keep them looking like new. And for your absolute favorite pair, try having a cobbler add a rubber sole to the palm of that shoe, for slip protection AND to extend the life of its sole.
4. Over-wearing your favorites
And even though we know you LOVE your shoes, mix them up! One of the biggest mistakes you can make is over-wearing your cute kicks because if they end up being really damaged, most of the time, you just can't fix that.
5. Secluded storage
And lastly, shoes are just like human skin. They have pores that need fresh air. So, keep your shoes OUT of plastic bags and try to keep them in an open area.
