Children with Down syndrome stun in adorable calendar shoot
Bethany Balsis juggles two full-time positions, one as a professional photographer and the other as a mother to two daughters with Down syndrome.
But Balsis was able to bring the best of both worlds to her latest project -- a heartwarming calendar featuring children with Down syndrome.
With October being Down Syndrome Awareness Month, the timing could not be more perfect.
The Bristow, Virginia photographer told ABC News that her main goal was to "get the kids' personalities to shine through."
The photos are the Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia's calendar. Although it is issued annually, this was Balsis' first time at the helm of the project.
And boy, did she deliver.
The adorable photos exude personality from each of their subjects -- from the smiles on the faces of two infants playing with leaves to the mesmerizing gaze of a girl blowing snow from her hands.
Both of Balsis' own daughters makes an appearance as well, including her 9-year-old, Payton, pictured below.
You can see more photos from the calendar on Balsis' Facebook page. You can purchase your own copy of the calendar here.
