12-year-old girl shot in the head by stray bullet inside home
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (PIX11) — Police are searching for a gunman who fired a stray bullet that struck a 12-year-old girl standing in her living room in Hempstead.
Dejah Joyner, 12, was shot once in the head Friday afternoon after witnesses say a group of men were firing shots outside. Joyner, who was in the living room of her home was rushed to the hospital where she is in critical condition.

Police announced Saturday at a news briefing that a $75,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case.
"I'm pleading with the public," said Det. Sgt. Skopeck, Friday evening. "Please come forward to help us on this investigation."
Lamont Johnson, president of Hempstead Public Schools said grief counselors will be on hand at Dejah's school.
