Last night, Emily Blunt attended the Golden Heart Awards alongside other A-list celebs like Kate Hudson, Blake Lively and Diane Kruger, but Blunt's understated look made her stand out from the crowd. Perhaps it was the glow that comes with doing some good -- the event, co-hosted by Anna Wintour and Michael Kors, benefits families who are unable to afford food -- or maybe was it something else...

Dying to know what it was that made the Sicario actress look so darn good, we asked her makeup artist, Rebecca Restrepo, to give us the scoop.

"I wanted to keep it soft and simple, but still chic and fun," Restrepo said. "You know, she's young and modern, and always on trend. Her Michael Kors dress had such gorgeous embellishment that I wanted to keep the makeup simple."

Translation: a little bit of concealer and a focus on the brows.

"Not a hard brow," Restrepo was careful to clarify, "just very defined." To do this, she used a brow pencil that she actually designed herself for Elizabeth Arden. She also used "tons of eyelashes -- fluttery with lots of mascara," and applied individual, fine lashes to achieve a natural and chic look.

Perhaps the best tip we could have been given was Restrepo's secret to killer lashes: "The key with mascara is getting to the base of the lash," she said, "saturating the root of the lash to create a rich, full, feathery look that isn't spiky."

No eyeliner was used to create Blunt's breathtaking look, just a little bit of soft white pencil in the corner of the eye and a small amount of brow liner at the base of the bottom lashes to create a 'no-makeup' look.

For Blunt's lips, Restrepo went for a soft, glossy look, using a new matte lip color also from Elizabeth Arden, in 'raspberry,' a color she created.

Other tips from the makeup artist to the stars included these gems: use as little powder as possible, and never put moisturizer on a dry face. "Apply powder only to the T-zone," Restrepo advised, leaving the sides of the face alone. And if you want your powder and concealer to have a natural look, be sure to use a little bit of water in conjunction with your pre-makeup moisturizer, to help prepare your skin to hold makeup nicely, she said.

So is there anything special we can do to look more like Emily Blunt ourselves? Yes, we can do all of the above, but sadly we will never achieve true Emily Blunt beauty, which Restrepo attributes to her personality, which she says "just beams." Are we even surprised?
