Much of the technology that goes into modern cars is about figuring out a way to make them more aerodynamic, so that they can achieve greater speed with lower friction that translates into less fuel consumption. Many manufacturers add spoilers in the back of vehicles to balance the lift, drag and downforce, but no technology related to the tires has been considered for such purpose until now.

Tire maker Yokohama revealed that the company has been experimenting with tire aerodynamics and found that adding "spoilers" on the outer sidewall of the tire can save you a great deal of money that you would normally spend on fuel. These spoilers improve the car's aerodynamic and performance by reducing the drag when they are on the lower part and avoiding lift when they are on the top part.
