Heartbreaking photos show koala wandering around cleared construction site
Animals worldwide are losing their natural habitats to human endeavors. One koala appears to have tried to return home -- only to find a construction site.
On Monday afternoon, the animal was found disoriented and wandering the area located in the northern reaches of Australia's Gold Coast.

The koala named Ash was rescued by Wildcare Australia Inc. The organization gave her a large bucket of eucalyptus to munch on and made arrangements for a full health assessment at a sanctuary hospital.
They also shared her story on Facebook, noting the locale, "...would have been Ash's home range since she became independent from her mother. There is now nothing left for her to return to."
