Their life ended the same way it began -- together.

Helen Mae Cook and Clara Mae Mitchel were born identical twins on February 2, 1932 in Fort Lupton, Colorado.

On Tuesday, the duo died within 12 hours of each other.

Helen's daughter told KUSA that the sisters were extremely close.

That special connection lasted for over 83 years until it ended on Tuesday. Clara passed away at 4:30 in the morning after a heart attack.

Later that evening, Helen died after a six year battle with Alzheimers.

Gerber told KUSA that their passing together was fortuitous.
