Happy birthday, Ralph Lauren!

Fashion icon Ralph Lauren turns 76 today. The fashion designer, philanthropist and business executive is best known for his Ralph Lauren clothing company, which became a multi-billion dollar enterprise known around the world.

The native New Yorker's Polo Ralph Lauren sportswear line ultimately became the centerpiece of his fashion empire, including clothing, home furnishing and fragrances.

In terms of his family life, Lauren has three children, and his daughter Dylan is the owner of famous New York candy store, Dylan's Candy Bar.

Lauren has clearly made an evident and lasting impact on the fashion industry, but in September 2015, he stepped down from his position as chief executive of Ralph Lauren Corp. He will continue to work with the brand he built, particularly on the creative side.
